Andrew Turner MP - petition to OFT to investigate Isle of Wight ferry prices

I would like to thank everyone who has supported the campaign for the OFT to investigate the cross-Solent ferry services.

I have passed the OFT all the evidence I received and it is now a case of waiting to see what they decide. THey are expected to announce whether a full investigation will be held in May.

The Office of Fair Trading should recommend a full market investigation into the Isle of Wight Ferry Services by the Competition Commission.

In making their decision the OFT will look at three particular issues.

1. Whether the market for ferry services is working well.
2. What prospects there are for further competition.
3. The importance of the ferry services to Island residents and the economy.
