    Dulcie is 2010 Competition Winner

    Date: 16 Dec 2010

The Island’s MP Andrew Turner is delighted to announce the winner of his 2010 Christmas card competition is 6 year old Dulcie Wendes, a pupil at Godshill Primary School. Her winning picture of ‘The Three Shepherds’ was picked by three independent judges from among hundreds of entries sent in from primary and middle schools across the Island. There are also three runners up whose entries are printed on the reverse of Mr Turner’s card. They are Matthew Cheverton (age 9) and Ashur Uchelvich (age 5) both of Hunnyhill Primary School and Ayrton Townsend (age 6) of Nine Acres Primary School.

    Mr Turner said:
“I am grateful to everyone who entered and also to the judges who made the difficult choice of which picture should win. It is always a surprise to me which entry is chosen, but every year I have been delighted with the finished card and this year is no exception. I like Dulcie’s picture very much, particularly the little black sheep scampering away in the front, and the happy smiles on the faces of the shepherds and the sheep as they follow the star.”

Mr Turner attended a school assembly this week to present Dulcie with her prize and copies of the card for her to send to her own friends. He told the school that the Prime Minister, David Cameron, and his family would be among those receiving a copy of the card from him.

    Mr Turner added :
“My annual Christmas Card competition is great fun and it also provides a good opportunity for me to wish all Islanders and their families a very merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.”
