I would like to thank everyone who has supported the campaign for the OFT to investigate the cross-Solent ferry services. I have passed the OFT all the evidence I received and it is now a case of waiting to see what they decide. THey are expected to announce whether a full investigation will be held in May. Thank you for visiting my website. Andrew Turner MP |
Thank you to everyone who has supported my campaign for the Office of Fair Trading to investigate Isle of Wight ferry services.
Comment by Annette Scivier, FreshwaterThe following people and organisations are publicly supporting this campaign. Thankyou for asking OFT to look at IOW ferries again 1 The marketing and pricing is confusing and expensive compare other Islands We have no choice but to rely on ferries Flying is even more unviableId like to swim one day2 Opportunity for competition is limited this could be expandedeasily for passengersTrains would then be easier to connect3 We rely TOTALLY on the 2 main ferry companies for FOOD in spite of good local producers major supermarkets still have unfair power over market rely on ferriesHEALTH as local GP I know many patients decline potentially lifesaving treament eg cardiology certain paediatricsoncology radiotherapybecause they cannot afford repeat visits to mainland hospitalsEDUCATIONhigh school higher education is in turmoil hence Island families seek better elsewhere but young peoples courses are limited by ferries esp recently via LymingtonLOCAL INDUSTRY EMPLOYMENT I think others would address this better BUT Lymington communities their MP has NO IDEA of how they almost cut us off by objecting to new ferries Imagine the effect on Lymington if all roads to Southampton across the forest were closed they had to travel anywhere via Bournemouth |
