I would like to thank everyone who has supported the campaign for  the OFT to investigate the cross-Solent ferry services.

I have passed the OFT all the evidence I received and it is now a case of waiting to see what they decide.  THey are expected to announce whether a full investigation will be held in May.

Thank you for visiting my website.

Comment by Robin Courage, Ryde
I am constantly amazed at the attitude of Wightlink to the provision of ferry services for islanders and our visitors Service is not a word that is either understood or implemented by this organisation Without any notice ferries both the car ferry and the catamaran are cancelled at the whim of the management and with no reference to the needs of busy islanders trying to go about their business with clients and customers on the mainland The prices regularly charged on the Portsmouth car ferry are nothing short of outrageous Last summer my daughter her husband and their 6 month old baby were charged £12000 to bring their car over for a one day visit A clear indication of the monopolistic attitude employed by the ferry company As island residents we cannot conduct our business without this service yet Wightlink clearly have no desire to provide a service to suit the needs of islanders and our visitors but simply to line their own pockets This island more than ever will have to rely upon holiday visitors yet the ferry service goes out of its way to keep people from crossing the Solent to support our businesses with the income that they must rely upon for their continued survival This monopoly must be curtailed in some way and a healthy competition must somehow be allowed in order to restore a true and affordable service for islanders and visitors alike
